Fujifilm X-H1, Still Worth Buying? Fuji X-H1 IBIS Compared to Sony a7iii (with a Clear Winner)

Fujifilm X-H1 vs Sony A7III IBIS Comparison

When the Fujifilm X-H1 came out, it was the first Fujifilm camera with IBIS (well, after this one actually, but…).

Inevitably everybody started comparing Fuji’s IBIS to the ones available on other systems, especially on Sony… and so did Lee Zavitz now!

He now grabbed a Fujifilm X-H1 and tested its IBIS using the latest Fujifilm X-H1 firmware.

If you click the video above (which will start at 4:55), you will see it compared side by side to the IBIS on the Sony a7iii. The difference is hugely in favor of the Fujifilm X-H1. Actually it’s that bad on the Sony a7III, that one might think IBIS was disabled.

On the Sony IBIS side, things do not really get better with the smaller Sony A6600.

As we reported just yesterday Gordon from Cameralabs said that:

in some cases tuning on IBIS on Sony A6600 almost gives as shaky results as with IBIS turned OFF“.

Don’t get me wrong, Sony is great and we are all lucky to have such a wonderful camera manufacturer on the market. They deserve all the success they have, and in some areas they lead the pack (eye-aufofocus).

But sometimes, like IBIS and weather sealing (as reported here), one could get the impression Sony wants to put those specs on paper as a selling point, but they don’t really put all the R&D necessary to make them work at their best.

Not sure if Fujifilm should do the same, meaning don’t care much about how well the IBIS on their smaller X-T prototypes currently works, and just release an X-T4 or X-T40 with IBIS as soon as possible.

At the end of the day it will show up on the specs sheets, and hence become a selling point, no matter how well or not it works.

Or maybe Fujifilm should remain obsessed by how well their stuff actually works, and just wait until their smaller IBIS unit works properly.

Fujifilm X-H1, Still Worth Buying?

So, is the Fujifilm X-H1 still worth buying?

Well, now that you can get it with vertical grip and 2 additional batteries for $999 only, there can be only 1 possible answer: I don’t know, it’s up to you! :)

But if your answer is “yes”, then you have on big problem: the Fujifilm X-H1 is back-ordered on many stores, so good luck finding one.

Top 3 Selling Cameras, Lenses, Software and Accessories for August on FujiRumors

August saw a clear winner when it comes to best selling camera. And I sure you already guessed it.

More interesting are other top sellers, like in the software and lens department.

TOP 3 SELLING…

Top Accessories

The Textured Rubber Non Slip Grip Tape, a useful (and cheap) accessory to add more grip to your smartphone, laptop and camera (especially the GFX100, as you can see here).

The Chinese company JJC has just released the Arca-Swiss compatible JJC FUJIFILM X-T3 / X-T2 hand grip as well as the JJC FUJIFILM X-T30 / X-T20 / X-T10 hand grip. These grips are even cheaper than the Chinese Meike grip for X-T3 and for X-T30, not to talk of the rather pricey original Fujifilm grip.

Top X Series Cameras

It could not be different, Fujifilm X-H1, win by a large margin, thanks to the crazy rebate.

The X-T3 keeps up being a stable good seller.

The X-Pro2 is third, but I wonder if after all the recent leaks regarding the X-Pro3, the X-Pro2 will sell even better. In fact, I hear that many, waiting for the X-Pro3, are disappointed by the leaks. They might well just grab a currently discounted X-Pro2 instead.

Top XF Lenses

The massive X-H1 rebates gets even better, if you bundle it with XF16-55mm f/2.8 or XF 8-16mm f/2.8.

That’s why those two lenses jumped up at the top of the lens sales ranking.

The Fujinon XF16-80 is third, and I predict it has all the potential to become a long time best seller in the Fujinon world.

Top X Mount Third Party Lenses

The Pinhole Pro X 18-36mm has raised over $300,000 already on kickstarter and people seem to be very interested in this lens. The current kickstarter campaign also pushed sales of the already available pinhole lenses for Fujifilm X

Top GFX Gear

Top Software

  1. Luminar 4
  2. Capture One Pro 12
  3. Adobe Creative Cloud

Fake sky replacement and automatic intelligent selective clarity seem to be features people love, since they catapulted Luminar 4 at the top selling position, dethroning Capture One Pro 12.

Yep, the Fujifilm X-H1 is a Steal Now, but the Fujifilm X-H2 Remains a Mirage

X-H1 Steal

The Fujifilm X-H1 is hugely discounted, and the best deal you can get in the Fujifilm X world right now.

And inevitably, I keep up getting asked if this isn’t a clear, unequivocal and irrefutable indication that the Fujifilm X-H2 is just around the corner.

Guys, if I was you, I’d bet all my money on an imminent arrival of the Fujifilm X-H2. Everything just fits, the three mysterious registered Fujifilm cameras, the big discount on the X-H1.

But I am FujiRumors, and I can only share, what I believe to be true, based on what our sources tell us.

And what I say is that no Fujifilm X-H2 is coming anytime soon. I hope to be wrong, but I am afraid I am not.

Top 3 Selling Cameras, Lenses, Software and Accessories for July on FujiRumors

Back in June we had a huge surprise: the Fujifilm GFX100 was selling better than the Fujifilm X-T3.

In fact my sources say pre-orders triple Fujifilm’s forecast and Fujifilm managers officially said here pre-orders are “more than twice” what they expected

So which cameras and lenses take the top spot in terms of sales in July? Check it out below.

Of course, the rankings below are representative only for the FujiRumors community and not for overall sales.

TOP 3 SELLING…

Top Accessories

I bought a SanDisk 128GB Ultra Dual Drive USB Type-C myself during Amazon Prime, and so far I am extremely happy with it. Now I have 1 device that I can use for my MacBook Pro (USB-C) and the ancient computers at my school (USB-3). Both connectors slide completely into the stick, making the whole USB stick very compact at no risk to damage the connectors.

The best thing of all, even after Amazon Prime, there is still a huge discount on the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive.

The best-selling SD-Card was the Fujifilm recommended Lexar 2000x UHS-II.

Last but not least, the Textured Rubber Non Slip Grip Tape, a useful (and cheap) accessory to add more grip to your smartphone, laptop and camera (especially the GFX100, as you can see here).

Top X Series Cameras

The most surprising fact for me here, is that we find the Fujifilm X-E3 on the third position instead of the Fujifilm X-H1, which in my opinion currently represents the best value for money deal in the entire Fujifilm universe.

Some Fujifilm X-E3 combos are marked as discontinued and we already reported that the X-E3 outsells all its predecessors. This gives good hopes for the X-E line to be kept alive (it was not always like this).

The current $100 discount on X-E3 might help to boost sales even more.

Top XF Lenses

I predict this: the Fujinon XF16-80 will become one of Fujifilm’s best-selling lenses.

I don’t know why Fujifilm does not offer it as a kit lens (hence with a discount if bundled with a camera), but if at some point Fujifilm will decide to offer it as a kit lens, then I think this will boost sales for that lens even more.

For the rest, it seems people’s hunger for 50mm equivalent focal length (including mine) is insatiable.

Top X Mount Third Party Lenses

The Samyang 12mm f/2 enjoyed good sales during Amazon Prime.

The Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 AF is arguably the most interesting third-party X mount lens on the market right now. And you know what? There are 3 more Viltrox AF lenses for Fujifilm X mount coming. Check out all details here.

The Mitakon 35mm f/0.95 has been kicked out of the ranking by a couple of 7Artisans lenses, with the new 60mm f/2.8 macro on top.

Top GFX Gear

Fujifilm GFX 5oS sales are struggling, despite the lower price tag. People seem to prefer either the even cheaper Fujifilm GFX 50R (which is still $500 off) or the brand new Fujifilm GFX 100.

Top G Mount Lenses

The compact Fujinon GF 50mm f/3.5 seems to be a winner for Fujifilm. It is marked as top seller at BHphoto.

The brand new Laowa 17mm f/4 has kicked Fuji’s own wide option, the Fujinon GF23mm f/4, out of the ranking.

Top Software

  1. Luminar 4
  2. Capture One Pro 12 (save 50%)
  3. Adobe Creative Cloud

A great launch deal and the fake sky replacement feature make Luminar 4 the by far best-selling software in July, dethroning Capture One Pro 12, which dominated basically the entire year 2019.
