New Fujinon XF 50mm f/1.0 Hands-On Images and Accurate Size Comparison with XF 33/1.0, 56/1.2, 50/2, 90/2, 16-55/2.8

Fujinon XF 50mm f/1.0

As you know, Fujifilm canceled the Fujinon XF33mm f/1.0 in favor of the Fujinon XF 50mm f/1.0. As Fujifilm explained at the Fujifilm X Summit, the change was necessary in order to save size, weight (and I’ll add also price).

FujiRumors already made an accurate size comparison between the XF 50mm f/1.0 and the XF56/1.2, XF50/2, XF90/2 and XF16-55/2.8 in this article.

Now new hands on images of the Fujinon XF 50mm f/1.0 appeared on weibo via camerabeta, and you can see them all down below.

Is it a good Idea to change from XF33mmf/1.0 to XF50mmf/1.0 to save size and weigth?

Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 Fuji X Mount Autofocus Lens Review Roundup

The Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 AF is definitely the hottest non Fujinon lenses of the moment, alone for the reason that, besides the Zeiss Touit Fuji X trinity, it’s the only autofocus lens for the Fujifilm X system.

But, unlike the Zeiss Touit Trinity, it is the only reverse-engineered lens AF lens for Fujifilm X.

Moreover, it is pretty affordable!

So far the reviews have been very positive, and while it can’t match the Fujinon XF quality, it is definitely great value for money.

Hence, we keep up covering this lens in dedicated roundups here on FujiRumors.

The good news?

There will be more!

As we reported here, the Fuji X mount Viltrox 23mm f/1.4, 33mm f/1.4 and 56mm f/1.4 are coming within 2019 with seriously aggressive price tag.

It’s great to see competition coming for our beloved Fujinon XF23mm f/1.4, XF 35mm f/1.4 and XF 56mm f/1.2.

Fujinon XF 50mm f/1.0 Accurate Size Comparison with XF 56mm f/1.2 and XF 50mm f/2

Fujinon XF 50mm f/1.0

As we reported here, for the sake of size and weight, Fujifilm canceled the Fujinon XF33mm f/1.0 from the roadmap and replaced it with a smaller Fujinon XF50mm f/1.0.

The new Fujinon XF50mm f/1.0 will be 35% smaller than the latest Fujinon XF33mm f/1.0 mock-up and also weight under 900 gram, as opposed to the 1.3 kg of the XF 33mm f/1.0.

So I thought I take the official Fujinon XF50mm f/1.0 images shared by Fujifilm here and compare its size with the Fujinon XF56mm f/1.2 and Fujinon XF 50mm f/2.

While this is as accurate as it gets, keep in mind that this is just an early prototype and the final version will surely see some changes.

According to the first results from our survey, you guys agree with Fuji’s choice to change focal length in order to make the lens smaller and lighter.

Fujifilm Manager Toshihisa Iida Interview: New Fujinon X and G Mount Lens Roadmap in 2019 and 5 to 6 New Lenses in 2020

Fujifilm Manager Toshihisa Iida Interview

Fujifilm Manager Toshihisa Iida has released an interview to the Japanese website newswitch, which you can read summed up and translated in its main points below.

But before we go ahead, I want to highlight one thing Toshihisa Iida said:

The roadmap is updated once a year

Fujifilm sort of changed the roadmap yesterday, at the Fujifilm X Summit, by scraping the Fujinon XF 33mm f/1.0 from the roadmap and replacing it with the Fujinon XF 50mm f/1.0.

But if we look at the official Fujifilm website, we see that the latest uploaded roadmaps are:

This means that Fujifilm plans to release an updated roadmap within this year, which fits with what we rumored a few days ago here.

But how many lenses can we expect to be announced in 2020? Toshihisa Iida said:

To date, we have announced an average of 5 or 6 new products each year. […] We are not going to slow that pace”

Also in this case, this fits with what we already told you back in 2017, when our sources told us that Fuji’s schedule is to release 2/3 GF lenses and 2/3 X lenses a year.

Now let’s just hope Fujifilm will listen and give us what you guys voted the most wanted X and G mount lenses here.

Viltrox 23, 33 and 56mm f/1.4 Fujifilm X Mount Coming December 2019 with Seriously Aggressive Price Tag

Viltrox

FujiRumors broke the rumor about new  23, 33 and 56mm f/1.4 Viltrox lenses coming already back in May.

Since then, we all waited patiently for more details, and we got the first ones here on this FujiRumors article, as well as additional lens images in this article.

Now Viltrox displayed the lenses at the IBC 2019, adding more detailed information about price and release date – via digitalcameraworld.

All three new Viltrox lenses will be:

  • for sale in December 2019
  • priced around $250

This means it will be even cheaper than their currently only autofocus lens for Fujifilm X mount, the Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 AF.

That’s very aggressive and if they are as good value as the Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 (customer reviews on AmazonUS and on BHphoto), then our beloved Fujinon XF23mm f/1.4, XF 35mm f/1.4 and XF 56mm f/1.2 are getting some good competition.

Down below our specs shared in earlier articles, and for many images of all these lenses (included mounted on Fujifilm cameras), check out this article on FR and the images at digitalcameraworld.

Fujifilm X Summit September 20: Big Announcements, Cool Insights and New Lens/Firmware Roadmaps?

Fujifilm X Summit

Fujifilm just announced the Fujifilm X Summit for September 20 at 1PM GMT. This means it will take place at:

  • 9AM New York Time
  • 3PM Berlin Time

There will be a LIVE STREAMING here on FujiRumors.

Fujifilm writes about the event:

Following the first round in Dubai, we are pleased to announce that the second X Summit will be held on September 20th 1PM GMT!

This time, the X Summit will be held in Shibuya, Tokyo – the mecca of street photography in Tokyo. What will happen this time?

Make sure to tune in on September 20th.

Now, Fujifilm can’t tell you this, but of course they mean to stay tuned on FujiRumors for non stop real time coverage, just as we did last time back in February with the Dubai X Summit. ;)

So, make sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, RSS-feed, Youtube, Flipboard and Twitter.

What Will Happen?

Let’s take a look what Fujifilm did at the last Fujifilm X summit in Dubai:

  • they asked the Fujifilm community to vote on future lenses
  • they asked the Fujifilm community to vote on future firmware
  • they showed early Fujifilm GFX concepts, including a modular GFX
  • Fujifilm engineers talked about the X and GFX lenses and camera development
  • Fujifilm managers showed us mock-ups of future lenses such as the the XF33mmf/1.0
  • the showed a Fujifilm GFX100 prototype
  • they explained the Fujifilm color science approach
  • there was a Q&A with the community

That’s about it, and for a compact summary of the entire X Summit of February, just check out this article.

Now, you can see that Fujifilm actually did NOT announce any new gear at the last X summit, so chances are, that also this time we won’t get a full and final announcement of any new camera or lens.

In fact, our sources confirm that the final announcement with full specs and pre-orders for the Fujifilm X-Pro3 will happen on the second half of October.

However…

I know many of you are hoping to see a Fujifilm X-H2 or maybe a Fujifilm X-T3s with IBIS.

I have not heard about it, and if something like this comes, it was Fujifilm’s best kept secret ever. But yes, there is this third mysterious camera registered, and if it comes out 2019, then I honestly have no idea what it could be.

You guys, though, seem to be much more confident: you see high chances for a Fujifilm X-H2 or X100V (but X100V will surely come in 2020 only)

What can be expect more realistically?

Well, the main course of the meal could be other things, like:

Also, there will be several Fujifilm managers to go on stage and give us technical insights, disclose further projects, show even more mock-ups and more. Also gifted photographers like Bert Stephani, David Hobby and Tomasz Lazar will be there.

One Thing is Sure!

One thing is sure:

September 20 will be a very exciting day for the Fujifilm community, and my fast fingers will cover the event at 360° non stop, to make sure you at home don’t miss a single tidbit.

New Fujifilm Lens Roadmap to be Announced Soon

A the big Fujifilm X Summit back in February, Fujifilm asked us which lenses we would like to see next for the Fujifilm X and GFX system.

You guys voted massively here.

Well, I am happy to report that I hear of a new lens roadmap coming soon.

Let’s hope they listened once again to our wishes, as they did, when Fujifilm they took 1:1 your suggestions in the past.
