Viltrox 23, 33 and 56mm f/1.4 Fujifilm X Mount Coming December 2019 with Seriously Aggressive Price Tag

Viltrox

FujiRumors broke the rumor about new  23, 33 and 56mm f/1.4 Viltrox lenses coming already back in May.

Since then, we all waited patiently for more details, and we got the first ones here on this FujiRumors article, as well as additional lens images in this article.

Now Viltrox displayed the lenses at the IBC 2019, adding more detailed information about price and release date – via digitalcameraworld.

All three new Viltrox lenses will be:

  • for sale in December 2019
  • priced around $250

This means it will be even cheaper than their currently only autofocus lens for Fujifilm X mount, the Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 AF.

That’s very aggressive and if they are as good value as the Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 (customer reviews on AmazonUS and on BHphoto), then our beloved Fujinon XF23mm f/1.4, XF 35mm f/1.4 and XF 56mm f/1.2 are getting some good competition.

Down below our specs shared in earlier articles, and for many images of all these lenses (included mounted on Fujifilm cameras), check out this article on FR and the images at digitalcameraworld.

Viltrox 23mm f/1.4 specs

  • aperture range: 1.4 – 16
  • 9 aperture blades
  • 10 groups, 11 glasses
  • filter size: 52
  • weight 250g
  • for sale in December 2019
  • priced around $250

Viltrox 33mm f/1.4 specs

  • aperture range: 1.4 – 16
  • 9 aperture blades
  • 9 groups, 10 glasses
  • filter size: 52
  • weight 270g
  • for sale in December 2019
  • priced around $250

Viltrox 56mm f/1.4 specs

  • aperture range: 1.4 – 16
  • 9 aperture blades
  • 9 groups, 10 glasses
  • filter size: 52
  • weight 290g
  • for sale in December 2019
  • priced around $250

Fujifilm X Summit September 20: Big Announcements, Cool Insights and New Lens/Firmware Roadmaps?

Fujifilm X Summit

Fujifilm just announced the Fujifilm X Summit for September 20 at 1PM GMT. This means it will take place at:

  • 9AM New York Time
  • 3PM Berlin Time

There will be a LIVE STREAMING here on FujiRumors.

Fujifilm writes about the event:

Following the first round in Dubai, we are pleased to announce that the second X Summit will be held on September 20th 1PM GMT!

This time, the X Summit will be held in Shibuya, Tokyo – the mecca of street photography in Tokyo. What will happen this time?

Make sure to tune in on September 20th.

Now, Fujifilm can’t tell you this, but of course they mean to stay tuned on FujiRumors for non stop real time coverage, just as we did last time back in February with the Dubai X Summit. ;)

So, make sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, RSS-feed, Youtube, Flipboard and Twitter.

What Will Happen?

Let’s take a look what Fujifilm did at the last Fujifilm X summit in Dubai:

  • they asked the Fujifilm community to vote on future lenses
  • they asked the Fujifilm community to vote on future firmware
  • they showed early Fujifilm GFX concepts, including a modular GFX
  • Fujifilm engineers talked about the X and GFX lenses and camera development
  • Fujifilm managers showed us mock-ups of future lenses such as the the XF33mmf/1.0
  • the showed a Fujifilm GFX100 prototype
  • they explained the Fujifilm color science approach
  • there was a Q&A with the community

That’s about it, and for a compact summary of the entire X Summit of February, just check out this article.

Now, you can see that Fujifilm actually did NOT announce any new gear at the last X summit, so chances are, that also this time we won’t get a full and final announcement of any new camera or lens.

In fact, our sources confirm that the final announcement with full specs and pre-orders for the Fujifilm X-Pro3 will happen on the second half of October.

However…

I know many of you are hoping to see a Fujifilm X-H2 or maybe a Fujifilm X-T3s with IBIS.

I have not heard about it, and if something like this comes, it was Fujifilm’s best kept secret ever. But yes, there is this third mysterious camera registered, and if it comes out 2019, then I honestly have no idea what it could be.

You guys, though, seem to be much more confident: you see high chances for a Fujifilm X-H2 or X100V (but X100V will surely come in 2020 only)

What can be expect more realistically?

Well, the main course of the meal could be other things, like:

Also, there will be several Fujifilm managers to go on stage and give us technical insights, disclose further projects, show even more mock-ups and more. Also gifted photographers like Bert Stephani, David Hobby and Tomasz Lazar will be there.

One Thing is Sure!

One thing is sure:

September 20 will be a very exciting day for the Fujifilm community, and my fast fingers will cover the event at 360° non stop, to make sure you at home don’t miss a single tidbit.

Surprise: New Fujinon Prime Lens Not Yet on Roadmap Coming Next

New Fujinon Lens

If you look at Fujifilm’s latest X mount roadmap, you’ll notice only one lens listed there, that has not yet been announced: the Fujinon XF33mm f/1.0.

But if you were thinking, that being the only lens on the roadmap, it will be also the next one, then you were wrong.

In fact, according to our trusted sources, the next lens Fujifilm will launch for the X system will not be the Fujinon XF33mm f/1.0, but another prime lens, that is not yet listed on the official roadmap.

What could it be?

Well, Fujifilm officially asked us which lenses we would like next, and they offered us several options to vote for.

When we did that last time, Fujifilm took 1:1 your suggestions, and delivered exactly what the FujiRumors community asked for.

This time 16,500 of you voted our massive survey. Check out the results here, and let’s hope Fujifilm listened again.

Top 3 Selling Cameras, Lenses, Software and Accessories for July on FujiRumors

Back in June we had a huge surprise: the Fujifilm GFX100 was selling better than the Fujifilm X-T3.

In fact my sources say pre-orders triple Fujifilm’s forecast and Fujifilm managers officially said here pre-orders are “more than twice” what they expected

So which cameras and lenses take the top spot in terms of sales in July? Check it out below.

Of course, the rankings below are representative only for the FujiRumors community and not for overall sales.

TOP 3 SELLING…

Top Accessories

I bought a SanDisk 128GB Ultra Dual Drive USB Type-C myself during Amazon Prime, and so far I am extremely happy with it. Now I have 1 device that I can use for my MacBook Pro (USB-C) and the ancient computers at my school (USB-3). Both connectors slide completely into the stick, making the whole USB stick very compact at no risk to damage the connectors.

The best thing of all, even after Amazon Prime, there is still a huge discount on the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive.

The best-selling SD-Card was the Fujifilm recommended Lexar 2000x UHS-II.

Last but not least, the Textured Rubber Non Slip Grip Tape, a useful (and cheap) accessory to add more grip to your smartphone, laptop and camera (especially the GFX100, as you can see here).

Top X Series Cameras

The most surprising fact for me here, is that we find the Fujifilm X-E3 on the third position instead of the Fujifilm X-H1, which in my opinion currently represents the best value for money deal in the entire Fujifilm universe.

Some Fujifilm X-E3 combos are marked as discontinued and we already reported that the X-E3 outsells all its predecessors. This gives good hopes for the X-E line to be kept alive (it was not always like this).

The current $100 discount on X-E3 might help to boost sales even more.

Top XF Lenses

I predict this: the Fujinon XF16-80 will become one of Fujifilm’s best-selling lenses.

I don’t know why Fujifilm does not offer it as a kit lens (hence with a discount if bundled with a camera), but if at some point Fujifilm will decide to offer it as a kit lens, then I think this will boost sales for that lens even more.

For the rest, it seems people’s hunger for 50mm equivalent focal length (including mine) is insatiable.

Top X Mount Third Party Lenses

The Samyang 12mm f/2 enjoyed good sales during Amazon Prime.

The Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 AF is arguably the most interesting third-party X mount lens on the market right now. And you know what? There are 3 more Viltrox AF lenses for Fujifilm X mount coming. Check out all details here.

The Mitakon 35mm f/0.95 has been kicked out of the ranking by a couple of 7Artisans lenses, with the new 60mm f/2.8 macro on top.

Top GFX Gear

Fujifilm GFX 5oS sales are struggling, despite the lower price tag. People seem to prefer either the even cheaper Fujifilm GFX 50R (which is still $500 off) or the brand new Fujifilm GFX 100.

Top G Mount Lenses

The compact Fujinon GF 50mm f/3.5 seems to be a winner for Fujifilm. It is marked as top seller at BHphoto.

The brand new Laowa 17mm f/4 has kicked Fuji’s own wide option, the Fujinon GF23mm f/4, out of the ranking.

Top Software

  1. Luminar 4
  2. Capture One Pro 12 (save 50%)
  3. Adobe Creative Cloud

A great launch deal and the fake sky replacement feature make Luminar 4 the by far best-selling software in July, dethroning Capture One Pro 12, which dominated basically the entire year 2019.
