Happy New Year 2020, fellow FR-readers!

You should be proud of you, as here is what you guys did in 2019 on FujiRumors:

• 53,000 comments on FR-articles (average 145 comments a day)
• 180,000 votes in our 46 polls

Look, they might like it or not, but with such overwhelming and crushing participation numbers, you guys force Fujifilm to reads us with greatest care, as proven multiple times such as here, here and here.

As you know, I run FujiRumors alone in my spare time from my teaching job.

So it was not always easy, but I have tried to honor your fantastic participation by delivering you in 2019:

Top & Flop Blogger Moment

FLOP: You might know that my Twitter account was closed earlier this year and I lost contact with my 19,000 people strong Twitter community. It was really hard to see a community, that came together over 9 years of blogging, disappear overnight.

TOP: Well, turns out, that my biggest down lead to my biggest high, since, when all my hope had faded and some twitter bot confirmed my lifelong ban, luckily a fellow FR-reader jumped in and helped me to restore my Twitter account, giving me the biggest blogging-joy of the year. It’s just amazing, how much support I get from this community in moments of needs! You are awesome!

Most Used Gear

As a teacher, I have 2 full months of holiday in Summer. Usually I travel a lot during that period.

However, this year I had to financially recover from the expenses related to my wedding in May.

So, except for a 10 days trip in Croatia together with that annoying SonyAlphaRumors guy ;), I did not travel anywhere.

I stayed here, surrounded by my stunning mountains and my fun local traditions.

I hiked around, climbed some mountains, and as a natural consequence focused mostly on landscape photography.

At the end, the Fujinon XF10-24 and XF18-135 turned out to be my most used lenses of the year, with the 27/2.8 and 35/1.4 being the top primes. Of course mounted on my X-E3, although I did use also the X-T1.

Happy New Year 2020

So, 2020 is finally here…

Now you guys promise me to keep up having fun with your photography, and I promise you to put my best into FR also in 2020.

I bought the SanDisk 128GB dual USB-drive myself, as I own a MacBook Pro with USB-C only, but my school still uses computers with USB 3 and also on travels, when I need to print a flight ticket and ask the reception to do so, they usually do not have USB-C connection. This SanDisk 128GB dual USB-drive solved this problem, as it works with both, and is also extremely small.

It was the 4th best selling item this year, and I decided to add it in the list, to let you know that you currently save 62% on San Disk dual drive.

TOP SELLING CAMERAS

1. Fujifilm X-H1
2. Fujifilm X-T3
3. Fujifilm X-T30 (but X-Pro3 would have deserved it, as I explain below)

The terrific rebate on X-H1 pushed it on the top of the ranking for 2019. The Fujifilm X-H1 is discontinued, but you still can find last samples in some stores. Check stock at BHphoto, Adorama, AmazonUS, Focuscamera.

The Fujifilm X-T30 made it on the ranking, thanks to a huge deal on AmazonUS that was evidently an error, which Amazon decided to honour.

But if it wasn’t for the error X-T30 deal, the Fujifilm X-Pro3 would have taken that spot easily.

TOP SELLING LENS OVERALL

1. Fujinon XF35mm f/2

Last year this category was won by Laowa 9mm F2.8 Zero-D, but this year Fujinon takes back the top spot, with the much loved Fujinon XF35mm f/2.

1. Fujinon XF 35mm f/2
2. Fujinon XF 50mm f/2
3. Fujinon XF 16-80mm f/4

Small, affordable, great quality: that’s the winning formula of Fujicron line, which is an absolute favorite for you.

The Fujinon XF 16-80mm f/4 enjoys the advantage of being a brand new lens. Let’s see if it will be in the ranking also next year.

The Meike Neewer 35mm F1.2 was already very cheap, but thanks to a further price reduction, it is now that cheap, that even more decided to give it a try.

If 2018 saw the rise of Capture One among Fujifilm shooters, 2019 saw the final and definitive triumph!

And after a summer passed on my mountains and editing images, the inevitable happened: also FujiRumors left Lightroom for Capture One!

Luminar 4 is on a worthy and respectable 2nd place, and it will be the next software, I will deeply look into. Will it be able to dethrone Capture One for my editing? Stay on FujiRumors, and I will let you know ;).

2019 was another exciting year for the camera industry, with lots of different cameras in all price ranges hitting the market.

So DPReview had to update its buying guide for cameras under $1,500, and guess what, not a single camera could dethrone the 2018 Fujifilm X-T3 from the top spot.

DPR writes it’s still the best camera you can buy for under $1,500:

the Fujifilm X-T3 is one of the best APS-C cameras ever made and one of the most adept cameras full-stop, if you want to shoot both stills and video.

Its image quality is excellent, with a choice of attractive ‘Film Simulation’ color modes and detailed, flexible Raw files. Autofocus with most X-series lenses is snappy with effective focus tracking, eye-detection AF for portraits and zone focus modes that will adapt to a range of sports. This is on top of a well-respected interface which blends traditional dials with a good degree of customization.

We’re particularly impressed that the X-T3 does all this while also offering some of the best video we’ve encountered. It can shoot highly detailed 4K footage (UHD or DCI) at up to 60p with the option for 10-bit capture for maximum grading leeway. Useable (though not flawless) video AF makes it comparatively easy to get good results, too. Only the lack of in-body stabilization counts against its go-everywhere, capture everything credentials.

The Fujifilm lens range isn’t as extensive as some systems, but there’s a good choice of sensibly priced lenses that go well with the X-T3.

And it’s not over yet, as the Fujifilm X-T3 will get surely one significant firmware upgrade, and maybe even another big one in future.

Top Fujifilm Gear 2019

Another Fujifilm year is ending.

With 4 cameras and 4 lenses released in 2019, Fujifilm has a little bit slowed down, if we compare it to the Fujifilm year 2018 (7 new cameras and 6 lenses) and to the Fuji year 2017 (4 cameras and 8 lenses).

But it was definitely quality over quantity.

• Fujifilm X-Pro3: the ultimate retro feel camera
• Fujifilm X-T30: the ultimate value for money camera
• Fujifilm X-A7: the first well rounded and serious entry level camera by Fujifilm
