Fujifilm Leaks What’s Coming September 12 (GFX100 II, Tilt Shift)

Fujifilm has just put their countdown for the X summit on September 12 on their YouTube page.

Of course the video can’t yet be watched (will start Sept. 12 at 5AM New York time).

But here is the thing.

As soon as the video was up, I extracted the tags of the video and saw that the full tag-list included terms like “GFX100 II”, “tilt shift” and more (see screenshot above). I tried again now, and the tags that unveil what’s coming are no longer there.

So luckily I was fast enough to grab them for you. ;)

Now let’s go over them.

Let’s start with the tags that 100% tell us what’s coming September 12.

  • Fujifilm GFX100 II
  • Tilt Shift

According to my knowledge, also the Fujinon GF55mm f/1.7 should come on September 12.

Looking at the other tags gives us a sense on what the main focus of the event will be:

  • photography
  • cinema
  • movie recording

It’s interesting to see so much emphasis on the video side of things. And we already told you that the GFX100 II will bring several new features, such as Video touch-to-track AutofocusWaveforms Monitor and Anamorphic Mode.

A tag that gives X series users hopes:

  • X Series

Now, there are no specific tags for Fujifilm X-Pro4, X-E5, X-S30, X-T6, X-T40, X-H3, X-H3S, X80, X100VI (X200) or whatever. So little hopes for any X series camera to come, otherwise they would have tagged it just like they tagged the GFX100 II.

But I’d already be very happy if behind that “X series” and “fujinon” would hide for example the unveil of a new X series lens roadmap, which is long overdue.

Anyway, overall a very GFX-centric event, with hope for X series tidbits too.

Intriguing Theory: Fujifilm to Merge GFX100 and GFX100S into a Single Camera (GFX100 II) – Tony Northrup

Tony Northrup made a video where they cover the Fujifilm GFX100 II rumors (btw, thanks Tony for mentioning FujiRumors as the source… it’s a rare thing these days ;)).

Now, since it covers what we have shared already, there is nothing new to find out for FujiRumors.

However, he has an explanation on what “angled top plate” could practically mean (and it would make a whole lot of sense), but he also has an intriguing theory regarding the future GFX camera lineup.

In fact, when guessing the price of the GFX100 II (the video was recorded before we leaked the price), Tony said:

I think the price is going to be lower than the original GFX100 because I think they want to sell more. And since I think they are combining the GFX100 and GFX100S, I think they are going to drop the price down to $8,500″

Now, if this was indeed the case, then merging 2 camera lines into 1 could simplify the lineup even more and maybe free up more resources for other concepts.

Maybe Fujifilm could add that more retro X-T styled Fujifilm GFX camera to the lineup that we have seen in form of a mockup already here. Or keep up developing the Fujifilm GFX-R rangefinder line at a faster pace.

Certainly it could be a possibility to merge GFX100 and GFX100S, especially now considering the size difference is no longer a major factor (optional battery grip) and also, looking at the leaked image, the GFX100 and GFX100S look to be very close in terms of ergonomics.

So guys, merging two lines to free up resources for other GFX concepts? What do you think about it?

Fujifilm X Summit September 12 with GFX100 Successor and 3 GF Lenses Coming (And More?)

Fujifilm has officially announced the Fujifilm X Summit for September 12 (which for FujiRumors readers is boring old news ;)).

Well, according to our sources, we will get for sure at least the following gear on that day:

So there will be lots of love for the Fujifilm GFX system, which addresses one of my main complaints after the last X summit in May.

But the above gear is only what we will get for sure.

Fujifilm could easily launch more cameras and lenses, as well as treat us with surprises (as they always do on X summits).

So, no matter what the state of the leaks will be, make sure to stay tuned on FujIRumors on September 12, because we are going to have lots of fun.

Fujifilm Finds Temporary Work Around for GFX100S/GFX50SII Exposure Compensation Bug (via FujiRumors ;) )

Yesterday Fujifilm released a statement, where they acknowledge the exposure compensation bug introduced on Fujifilm GFX100S and GFX50SII with the latest firmware and they said a fix will be out on May 31.

Of course FujiRumors reported about it yesterday, but we also suggested a temporary workaround based on a recommendation that came from one of our fellow Fujifilm GFX users members here.

Well, it looks like Fujifilm read our article and has now updated their statement suggesting the very same workaround.

The exposure compensation can be used by changing the [EXPO. COMP. BUTTON SETTING] to [ON/OFF SWITCH], which will be the temporary workaround until the revised firmware is released.
*The menu flow to make the above setting is as follows.
[SETUP MENU] ➔ [BUTTON/DIAL SETTING] ➔ [EXPO. COMP. BUTTON SETTING] ➔ [ON/OFF SWITCH].

Always happy to help, Fujifilm :)

And thanks again to our amazing Fujifilm GFX group and Carlos in this case! You made it into an official Fujifilm press note.

Fujifilm Removes New Firmware for GFX100S and GFX50SII and Promises Fix on May 31 (and Work Around Solution)

Yesterday Fujifilm has released lots of firmware updates for 13 Fujifilm cameras (including some major updates!!).

Two of those cameras were the Fujifilm GFX100S and the GFX50SII.

Sadly, after updating, many FujiRumors readers started to report to me that they were now incurring in issues with the new firmware.

Well, Fujifilm has now pulled off the firmware for those two cameras and said they will release a firmware fix on May 31.

Fujifilm writes:

We have confirmed a problem with the exposure compensation function not working properly.
Therefore, we have removed the download button for this version.
We will release fixed firmware on May 31.

As soon as the new firwmare is online, I will report about it on FujiRumors.

Also, fellow Fujifilm GFX group member Carlos shared a workaround and he shared it in our group.

“I found a solution or “work-around” to Firmware (FW) 2.0 disabling the Exposure Compensation button on my GFX100s. The solution “is in the manual”, as some repeatedly and annoyingly say.
Go to the menu, and instead of choosing “+/- when pressing” (which was the default setting from the factory set-up), now choose “ +/- on/off switch”.
With this option, you will press on your camera the +/- Exp Comp button, then turn the back wheel to make a change, and then press the +/- Exp Comp button to deactivate the back wheel from altering the ExpComp. If you don’t deactivate it, turning the back wheel will not alter your shutter speed. “

We remind you that Fujifilm removed also the XApp from the App stores due to issues with the display. A fix is on the way also there, but you can continue to use the App with no problem if you have already installed it.

Fujifilm X-T4 Discontinued (in Addition to X-Pro3, X-E4, X-T30II, GFX50R, GFX100)

Fellow FR-readers saw it coming already.

The Fujifilm X-T4 had been removed from the Japanese Fujifilm store back in September 2022 and also stores overseas started to mark it as discontinued.

Well, now it’s also time for BHphoto & Co to remove the Fujifilm X-T4 from their store, hence it’s now marked as discontinued also there.

The Fujifilm X-T4 joins lots of other Fujifilm cameras that are already marked as discontinued, such as the Fujifilm X-E4 (we reported back in March here), the X-T30II (we reported here), the Fujifilm X-Pro3 (we reported here), as well as the Fujifilm GFX50R and the Fujifilm GFX100.

But, trust me guys, don’t expect a Fujifilm X-Pro4, Fujifilm X-T40, Fujifilm X-E5, Fujifilm GFX50R replacement and Fujifilm GFX100 replacement to drop all on May 24, just because they are now discontinued.
