Since then, Fujifilm has updated the list with new lenses. But for some obscure reason, they hide the list somewhere in a tab inside the Fujifilm X-H2 product page.
So I have collected all lenses currently listed by Fujifilm into a single page on my Amazon page here. I will update the list as soon as Fujifilm adds new lenses to it.
Don’t misunderstand it: it’s not that lenses that are not on the list won’t work on Fujifilm’s 40MP camera bodies. It’s just that, unlike other companies who do not disclose anything, Fujifilm was upfront and told customers which lenses will be able to resolve all the 40MP and which ones not.
But also lenses not on the list, will profit from higher resolution cameras. Fujifilm writes:
The list specifies Fujifilm’s selection of lenses that have high resolution performance from edge to edge at maximum aperture, allowing to fully experience all that the 40MP sensor has to offer. Lenses not listed will also allow you to experience the improved resolution performance of the 40MP sensor.
They’ll cause shortages, boost prices and create endless long waiting list.
But we can beat them.
Because the TikTok crowd is not aware of the Fujifilm X100VI (yet).
They don’t follow photography forums or rumor sites.
But it won’t take long until their TikTok idol will tell them about the X100VI.
So all we have is this short time window between announcement and the moment the news of the X100VI spreads on social media.
That’s why, if you want the Fujifilm X100VI, I make a recommendation that I can’t remember I’ve ever done in 12 years of blogging: if you want the X100VI, don’t wait and pre-order it instantly.
Beat the rush. Or risk to endlessly wait for the Fujifilm X100VI.
And remember: you can always send it back within 30 days. Or resell it at twice the price :D
But When?
Many asked me when pre-orders are taken. So here is how Fujifilm (usually) does it.
There is the X Summit. You can follow it here on FujiRumors. We will provide the live stream as well as a live summary.
During the X Summit, NO preorders are taken and NO reviews will be shared.
Once the X Summit is over (which could be anytime between 1:00AM and 2:00AM New York time), the embargo on the X100VI will be lifted. Reviews will drop and stores will upload the dedicated X100VI preorder pages.
Of course, as soon as the embargo is lifted, FujiRumors will start the Live Blog, where you’ll find all pre-order links and we will collect all the relevant reviews you should check out.
Fellow FR-readers… welcome to the first rumor of 2024.
And while it might not be the most crucial rumor ever shared, it is one that triggered lots of guesses and speculations on the web: the name of the Fujiiflm X100V successor.
It’s time for our yearly rumor check, so that you guys can decide if FujiRumors was worth your time or not.
We will also give you an overview over all remaining rumors for 2024 ranked by reliability.
75 rumors shared in 2023
12 rumors still to be verified
60 correct rumors out of 63 verifiable rumors
2 wrong rumors (sort of… not really… but yeah…) NOTE: one rumor instantly corrected (just misunderstood the source)
NOTE: another one is 99% correct, just a small detail is not accurate (how much faster the GFX100II sensor is compared to the GFX100 sensor). Still today this is not clear, but I am brutal to myself and move the entire stuff into the wrong section
1 rumor out of ranking (for reasons I will explain below)
In 2023 we have so far spotted three Fujifilm registrations, with 2 items still to come
FF220002 = Fujifilm X-S20
FF230001 = very likely Fujifilm GFX100II
FF230002 = yet unknown
We know for sure that one of the yet to be released items will be the Fujifilm GFX100II.
So what could be the second one?
I’ve read all sorts of speculations, from the Fujifilm GFX50R successor, the Fujifilm X-Pro4, Fujifilm X-E5, Fujifilm X-T6, Fujifilm X-T40, Fujifilm X80, Fujifilm X-H3, Fujifilm X-H3S, Fujifilm X100VI or X200 and more.
But those “rumors” appeared also ahead of the X Summit on May 24, and of course none of it materialized.
Here on FujiRumors we avoid to share fakes for traffic and SEO. That’s why all we rumored so far for 2023 were the X-S20 (code name FF220002) and the Fujifilm GFX100II (probably the FF230001).
So yes, there is still one piece of gear, the FF230002, that should come this year. But which camera will it be?
Again, I have absolutely no rumors about other cameras coming in 2023, so an idea came to me:
What if it’s not a camera?
What if it’s something else?
Because keep in mind that these registrations don’t say anything about “cameras”, but about gear that uses some sort of WiFi/Bluetooth frequencies.
So, with that in mind, and given the lack of rumors for another camera coming in 2023, I see three options:
Fujifilm will launch a new camera with the code name FF230002 in 2023, but FujiRumors simply does not know about it yet
Fujifilm will launch a new camera with the code name FF230002 in 2024
Fujifilm will launch an X-H alike file transmitter grip along with the GFX100II on September 12, and the grip has the code FF230002
Now, I don’t have rumors about any GFX100II file transmitter grip, but I have rumors about the GFX100II having an optional (and not integrated) battery grip, which could make option 3 likely.
Sure, also option 1 and 2 are still open. Especially if on September 12 the GFX100 II will come without any file transmitter grip.
But as we documented here it usually takes Fujifilm not more than 4 months (in two cases only it took them 6 months) to launch a camera after the registration has been spotted. And since the FF230002 registration appeared back in June here, the likelihood of a 2023 launch is very high.
And sure, there can always be a surprise camera. Maybe scheduled for launch later this year, maybe in November (X-T5 was launched in November too). I am just a rumor site and don’t claim to always know everything that will happen in the Fujifilm world. But maybe you remember the famous Fujifilm camera roadmap shared by Fuji Spain, in which they displayed two “disruptive” cameras coming for 2023. Well, if that roadmap was accurate, then the X-S20 and GFX100II would be those cameras and we can’t expect anything else coming this year.
But if that was the case, if nothing else would not come in 2023, then don’t worry, because as we already told you, the start into 2024 will be bombastic ;).
As soon as the video was up, I extracted the tags of the video and saw that the full tag-list included terms like “GFX100 II”, “tilt shift” and more (see screenshot above). I tried again now, and the tags that unveil what’s coming are no longer there.
So luckily I was fast enough to grab them for you. ;)
Now let’s go over them.
Let’s start with the tags that 100% tell us what’s coming September 12.
Fujifilm GFX100 II
Tilt Shift
According to my knowledge, also the Fujinon GF55mm f/1.7 should come on September 12.
Looking at the other tags gives us a sense on what the main focus of the event will be:
Now, there are no specific tags for Fujifilm X-Pro4, X-E5, X-S30, X-T6, X-T40, X-H3, X-H3S, X80, X100VI (X200) or whatever. So little hopes for any X series camera to come, otherwise they would have tagged it just like they tagged the GFX100 II.
But I’d already be very happy if behind that “X series” and “fujinon” would hide for example the unveil of a new X series lens roadmap, which is long overdue.
Anyway, overall a very GFX-centric event, with hope for X series tidbits too.
Questions, that you are free to share down below in the comments and I promise I will work on them and hopefully be able to answer soon.
One of the questions I have not yet the answer to is the name of the X100V successor.
And since I am tired to share rumors calling it the “X100V successor” I thought I’ll do it like this. I will now share a couple of naming options and you vote on the one you like most. The winning name will be used by me for all further rumors (at least until I find out the real name).
And let’s start with a feedback coming from a FR-reader via the revived rumor box.
Now that (AFTER MONTHS!!!) the contact form is finally fixed (read the important message here!!!) you can re-send me rumors and news anonymously.
And just minutes after the fix, I got this curiosity from a FR-reader via rumor box (thanks).
Fujifilm has launched a limited edition Disney Fujifilm X100V to celebrate the 100th Disney anniversary. Fujifilm says that there are only a limited number of 100 samples. I will be released on June 29.
In the meantime the regular version is nowhere to find, the the Fujifilm X100V successor (call it X100VI, X200, X100Whatever) is coming in not too distant future.
