Jordan is making an excellent work in these days at photokina. This time he had an interview with Torben Hondong of Fujifilm, You can check it out here at admiringlight.

In short:

– 16-55 without OIS: Fuji wants to contain size & weight
– 90mm and 16mm mock-up: the final lenses could be the same size, or they could be smaller as the mock-ups
– future lenses: If the 56mm APD sells well, then they will expand the specialized lens line-up
– 35mm MKII: no plans for now, possible in future

– Fujifilm X-PRO2: The discussion was about the Viewfinder. Basically Fuji is considering to put the best of the two worlds (EVF like the X-T1 & OVF of the X100T) into the X-PRO2 body. But Fuji “would see how the response to the X100T [viewfinder] was to consider the options for any potential X-Pro replacement.” The challange for Fuji is also to put an X-T1 alike EVF into an X-PRO2 that fits into a body that people expect.

If I’m not wrong, that’s a Russian interview with a Fuji manager (+ press conference). I don’t understand a single word, so maybe there is some FR-reader who could listen to it and hear if he drops something worth to be shared here on Fujirumors. Here is the interview.

[UPDATE] FR-reader DIS listened the interview and points out two interesting things:

1. Fuji has no plans on powerzooms (electronical zoom mechanism) yet but the don’t exclude the possibility of these products in future.
2. Fuji doesn’t plan to support third party lens officially (except Zeiss). So all third party optics will work only using reverse engineering.

At the same press-conference, Fuji showed the list of features that will be introduced with the December firmware for the X-T1. The list is officially known since the 10th of September 01:00 AM New York time (and who follows FR-regulary, will have read about some of this features already in earlier rumors ;-) ), but apparently some missed these news/rumors. So here is a screenshot from the press-conference. Number 1 to 4 are available from the shipment on the silver X-T1, the rest of the features will come via firmware update.

Second update today about the upcoming Fuji firmware. This time it’s about the Fujifilm X-E2 ( btw, $50 price drop on the X-E2 at the moment).

A FR-reader just came back from photokina with the following information… and he kindly shares it with all of us:

Firmware X-E2:
Fuji is looking and testing what the hardware supports and what not. Remote Control is one of those features! But they’ve to rewrite the driver cause the X-E2 uses a different WLAN module, but it’s on the list. What seems to be not on the list would be the Instax printer support.

Nissin i40 Flash:
In theory, the Nissin i40 flash is ready, but Nissin has to wait for the Fuji Firmware to actual support 3rd party flashes.

For now I have no confirmation about the details of the update from tursted sources.

[:: UPDATE :: pocket-lint corrected the sentence and now says:  “An update to bring such features to both the X100 and X100S models hasn’t been confirmed – but we wouldn’t entirely rule out the possibility.”]

ORIGINAL POST:

Pocket-lint put its hands on the brand new X100T… and they are “blown away” by it. The electronic rangefinder viewfinder, the real time parallax correction, the sexy look…

But there was one sentence that grabbed my attention more than any other:

“In addition there’s a new Classic Chrome Film Simulation mode and 1/32,000th sec electronic shutter that are new to the series. A firmware update will see these made available in both X100 and X100S models soon.”

Wishful thinking or did a Fuji-rep drop this information into conversation? Is it possible that even the almost 4 years old classic X100 will get such a big firmware update? Or did pocket-lint simply confuse it with the upcoming X-T1 firmware?

greetings from Photokina in Cologne. It’s a super big show and for the first day there was a lot of traffic. Our booth is in Hall 4.1 inbetween Canon (Hall 3) and Sony (Hall 5), so a lot of visitors pass by. But many are using the way through Hall 4.2, which is one level above us, because there is the very big and nice FUJI booth :-) We have been there yesterday and were excited about the new X100T (and the guys at the FUJI booth were excited about our CAMSLINGERs :-). Great Cam. I would say it is an evolution over the X100S and a revolution over the X100 (which I owned). As is predecesors the X100T fits very nice in our CAMSLINGER 105 and there is space left for spare batteries and a smartphone.

Let me also say a few words about the camslinger bags. These bags are extremely practical and give you super-fast access to your camera. And I know it, because I own the 160 version (where I put my X-E2 + 18-55 + 35). Here is an example about how pratical this bag is:

Last Sunday, after weeks of restless leaks and announcements, I decided to go very high in order to slow down. I needed a place with no internet connection, so I climbed the mountains of my region. I used the camslinger, and had always quick access to my X-E2, even while I was climbing. In the past, in order to protect my gear, I’d have packed it in my Rucksack… and I missed some nice shots because of that. But with the camslinger, taking shots even in difficult situations, was a children’s game! I’ve shared a video of me with the camslinger. Really, I find this bag so practical, I’d buy it even if they had just the Hello Kitty version of it :-).
