BREAKING: Two Fujifilm X-H2 Cameras Coming Different Megapixel Number (one 40 MP and the Other?)

Black Friday Pages

If you follow FujiRumors regularly then you’ll already know that there will be two Fujifilm X-H2 cameras and both will feature a different sensor.

You will also know that one of them will feature a 40 megapixel sensor.

So what about the other one? I did tell you previously that my priority is to find out the answer to the following questions:

  • Will both X-H2 cameras have a 40 Megapixel sensor? (maybe an X-Trans and a Bayer version)?
  • Will both X-H2 cameras have a stacked sensor?
  • Will both X-H2 cameras have an X-Trans sensor?

Well, a trusted source now reached out to us and told FujiRumors that there will be indeed a 40 megapixel Fujifilm X-H2 and that the other Fujifilm X-H2 will have a different megapixel number (not 40MP).

Look guys, I know all this is hard to believe.

In fact, since today Fujifilm always took one sensor and squeezed it for 2 or 3 years into all possible X series bodies. And this is why I understand if many of you are skeptical about these rumors.

But that’s what my sources tell me, and as I do since a decade of blogging now, I simply trust them blindly.

Calls with sources are scheduled already. So expect updates soon.

Fujifilm X-H2 Coming 2022 with Huge Computational Photography Boost?

Fujifilm X-H2

What could be a good topic to talk about this weekend?

Let me think…

What about the Fujifilm X-H2? Is that OK?

And more precisely, could 2022 be the year that will see a huge computational photography boost in Fujifilm X series cameras, starting with the Fujfiilm X-H2?

I think it could be, and here is why.

Recently I wrote an article called “Top 7 Critiques on Fujifilm that Are Absolutely Justified”.

In that article, I said that Fujifilm should hire the best firmware guy there is, and develop tons of artificial intelligence features, as this is one area where APS-C cameras can easily beat full frame and medium format cameras, as I also explained in my article 7 advantages of APS-C over FF article.

The smaller the sensor, the faster the processing, the less the heat, the more the camera is free to make its computational photography magic.

While writing that article, I remembered that back in 2019, top manager Toshihisa IIda did announced a 3 year computational photography plan and said:

  • In 3 years, AI (artificial intelligence or computational photography) will become important part of photography
  • AI will not manage or control, but help photographers to take better images in an easier way

And more recently here, Japanese Fujifilm managers said:

  • If sensor and processor are very fast, then you can do lots of things with computational photography

Well, it looks like Fujifilm plans to give the X series a massive AI boost by 2022 (according to their own 3 years AI roadmap set back in 2019). And guess which camera is set for 2022 announcement? You got it, the Fujifilm X-H2.

So, in terms of new technology, the Fujifilm X-H2 will not only give us a new hardware platform (new sensor and processor), but, if Fujifilm respects their own timeline, we might see also lots of computational magic being implemented in the X-H2.

Btu to be clear: this is not a rumor. I have no idea what the X-H2 will bring in terms of AI features. But Fujifilm itself hinted that by 2022 something will happen in this department. So feel free to let us know which AI features you’d like to get on the Fujifilm X-H2.

Dear FR-Readers, We Have to Talk!

Ok, let’s talk about it.

I’ll make the start by saying a few things. Then you let me know what you think.

FujiRumors goes with the flow, and a flow can look like this:

  1. A new camera is announced: I report a lot of reviews about that camera
  2. A new camera is coming: I share lots of rumors about that camera
  3. The deal season is here: I share more deals than I usually do

And every time I go with the flow, some FR-readers that are not interested in that particular flow, complain about me focusing on it. For example:

  1. When I talk a lot about a new GFX camera, many people not interested in the GFX system complain about my detailed coverage.
  2. When I share lots of rumors ahead of a camera launch, you can bet that some will keep commenting that it’s all just clickbait.
  3. When the deal season is here, people complain I post too many deals

Now, I have addressed Nr.1 already in the past here. So let address Nr2. and Nr.3:

Clickbait?

Fujifilm FF210002 Registration Found (Fujifilm X-H2?)

VERY LAST HOURS – save 28% on Capture One 22 pre-upgrades (click here) (20% discount offered by Capture One plus additional 10% with code FUJIRUMORS).
No better pre-upgrade deal is coming, not even at Black Friday. This is the best deal and it will end at 6PM New York Time today!

Nokishita spotted the registration for a new Fujifilm camera with the code name FF210002.

Fujifilm’s unreleased digital camera “FF210002” has been registered with an overseas certification body. Equipped with Wi-Fi (2.4GHz / 5GHz) and Bluetooth

As we saw in the past, it can take up to 6 months between a spotted registration and a final announcement. For example the X-H1 appeared 6 months after registration. Moreover, we are in crazy parts shortage times, so I’d not bet on anything right now.

FujiRumors already told you that Fujifilm’s first camera with new sensor and processor will be the Fujifilm X-H2.

It’s Ending

These are the last days to save 28% on Capture One 22 pre-upgrades (20% discount offered by Capture One plus additional 10% with code FUJIRUMORS)..

Capture One told me that this will be their best upgrade deal and no better deals will be offered in future.

The deal is available only for existing perpetual license holders (those on Capture One pro or branded 21 and older).

I remind you that Capture One 22 will, among the others, bring two new and long awaited features:

  • Panorama stitching
  • HDR merging

DPRTV Fujifilm X-T30II vs X-S10 Comparison

DPRTV has always loved the Fujifilm X-T30. But then the Fujifilm X-S10 came along with some significant upgrades (such as IBIS). Can the new X-T30II close the gap again? Here is what DPRTV has to say about it:

  • X-T30II very similar to X-T30 but also some important upgrades
  • outside of camera is identical
  • display on the back is better on X-T30II has higher resolution
  • X-T30II has better RAM, hence has better buffer. In fact, here is how many shots you can take before it starts to slow down:
X-T30 lossless compressed RAW at 8fps: 18 shots before slowing down
X-T30II lossless compressed RAW at 8fps: 23 shots before slowing down
X-T30II lossless compressed RAW at 5fps: 23 shots before slowing down
X-T30II lossless compressed RAW at 8fps: 46 shots before slowing down
  • X-T30II has new AF tracking of X-T4 with good hitrate. So better AF than X-T30
  • X-T30 has all the latest film simulations available for X series
  • X-T30II has F-Log assist (X-T30 has only F-Log)
  • X-T30II has 1080p at 240fps (but pretty soft and not great quality)
  • X-T30II brings lots of fairly small upgrades
  • Fujifilm X-S10 bold departure from classic design strategy
  • X-S10 and X-T30II are similar in size. X-S10 has a bigger grip, which lots of people like
  • X-T30II has better rear screen over X-S10, however, the X-S10 screen does fully articulate
  • max 8 fps for both cameras. X-T30II has better buffer hence can shoot longer bursts than X-S10 (which performs like X-T30)
  • X-T30 still has that old 2.5mm jack, which means you’ll need an adapter to attach your microphone. For headphones, you have to use the USB adapter
  • X-S10 has a 3.5mm mic jack (hence no adapter needed). For headphones still use USB adapter
  • Overheating at 4K/24p 200mbps:
    X-S10 overheats at 44:10 minutes
    X-T30II overheats at 28:18 minutes
Way longer video shooting with X-S10
  • X-S10 has IBIS, X-T30II has not
  • X-S10 is only $100 more expensive
  • X-T30II has better screen and buffer
  • it comes down to the styling and your preferences
  • Chris prefers the X-S10
