“Oprah Winfrey Approved” :-) The Fujifilm Instax SM-1 Printer is one of Oprah’s Favorite Things of 2015

Share

It’s 20 years now, that Oprah Winfrey picks out her favorite things of the year. And this year, it includes also one of the most fun devices Fujifilm ever created: LASEREO, Fujifilm’s new-generation endoscope!

Just kidding :)

The endoscope is definitely a Fujifilm product (they probably make more money with Lasereo than with the Fuji X-T1), but the really fun device, which Oprah Winfrey declared one of her favorites of 2015, is the Fujifilm Instax SM-1 Printer. She says:

No matter how high-tech we become, people still love an old-school instant pic. This ingenious battery-powered device lets you print photos via Wi-Fi from Apple and Android phones and tablets—and pretty much guarantees you’ll be the hit of the party.”

I can tell you: it’s an excellent device to have with you also at travels.

To those asking for a wide-printer version: I’ve heard that Fuji has currently no plans to make one.

I’ve taken this shot in Bali, last Summer. Bali Kids loved the little printer :)

Every time I check out the images X-shooters shared at the Fujirumors facebook photostream and at the Fuji X Forum, I’m amazed about how many gorgeous images the X-community creates with X-gear: low light, sports, landscape, portrait, architecture, street, astrophotography, fashion, weddings… simply everything can be done with stunning results!

These images also tell me that, for me, Patrick, there is no real need of Full Frame to get a higher keepers rate in my shots. On the contrary, I better invest my time & money in following other photographers and learning from their work. I better buy tutorials, ebooks and go to workshops. I better know my gear and don’t blame it for the lack of my skills. I should ask for advice and study. And of course, practice… go out on the field and shoot, a lot! Try different styles. Challenge myself. Experience frustration and joy… and at the end, have Fun while painting with light!

So, for next hours, I’m out of here guys and I’ll do my homework with the X-T1 now… which is actually one of the few homeworks I really enjoy to do :)

have a GREAT weekend,

Fuji X-T10 success story continues: “IQ better than many higher-end cameras. Easy to capture great-looking images”

Ok, let’s be honest: who among us would have bet a single dime on the success of the Fuji X-T10? Not many I guess… but we were proven wrong!

The latest Fuji financial report says the Fuji X-T10 is selling strong, dpreview compares it with the A6000, D5500 and O-MD E-M10 and says the Fuji X-T10 is hands down the most pleasurable of the bunch to use, and for what it’s worth, after playing with it for a while in a store, I also felt an unexpected attraction to it.

And the triumphal procession does not end here:

cameralabs tested the X-T10 and says:

As for the Fujifilm X-T10, its forte once again is image quality, delivering the best-looking photos of its peer group [O-MD E-M10II, A6000 & Lumix G7], not to mention better than many higher-end cameras. […]

The combination of Fujifilm’s unique sensor, faithful image processing and superb lenses makes it easy to capture great-looking images straight-out-of-camera without modification. Quite simply, the X-T10 is the mid-range mirrorless camera for those who prioritise photo quality over movies and other frills.”

The Fujifilm X-T10 also beats one of his strongest competitors, the Olympus O-MD E-M10II, in the test of focus-numerique (translation):

“[google translated] In the end, the two cases are very similar and each has advantages and disadvantages. Even between the two models point by point, a winner emerges not clear. We are in a duel, so you have to choose just one. And for us, this is the Fujfiilm X-T10.

Despite the versatility of optical Micro 4/3 park, we have a small penchant for bright optical Fujifilm and the ability to more easily create a rear blur (longer effective focal, generous openings). As soon as you go up the sensitivity, Fujifim housing also takes the upper hand over its competitor with a more refined and pleasant noise control.”

And one more: shutterbug says the X-T10 is “a Portable But Powerful Mirrorless Camera From A Venerable Brand
