Fujifilm Releases Firmware Update for Fujifilm X-E3 (Auto-Geotagging) and Fujifilm X-Pro2 (Bug Fix)

Share

Fujifilm X-E3 Firmware

Back in October, I told you that Fujifilm will release a new firmware update for real-time geotagging within 2017. Well I was wrong… it came 15 days later ;) . And just as we rumored here, the X-E3 firmware is twice as big as the X-T20 firmware.

1. Auto Geotagging and Date/Time synchronization by Bluetooth pairing
When connecting to Bluetooth, Geotagging and Date/Time information of a camera can be synchronized with the information of a smartphone. “SMARTPHONE SYNC. SETTING” is added in Bluetooth SETTING. *To use this function, the application software “FUJIFILM Camera Remote” needs to be upgrade to the latest version Ver.3.1.0.

2. The phenomenon is fixed that live view blinks on LCD and EVF with face detection and dynamic range 400% setting.

In order to make the X-E3 auto geotagging work properly, you also have to update your remote camera app. The latest version 3.1.0 has been released yesterday here. I have made a super quick intial test and it works. Here is my (ACROS+R) cat geotagged. :)

Godox XPro-F for Fujifilm in Stock at AmazonUS (via third party)

Share

Godox XPro-F

The Godox XPro-F wireless trigger is now in stock at AmazonUS here (via third party Pergear – 98% positive feedback in the last 12 months).

NOTE: FR-reader said in the comments that the items are signed as in stock indeed, but Pergear will be able to deliver only February 5th earliest.
NOTE 2: Another FR-reader ordered the trigger and said: “Pergear shipped mine from China, arrives Tuesday. DHL Tracking

Anyway, the XPro-F is expected to be in stock mid-January, so I guess it will be soon available at BHphoto and Adorama too.

Finally there are a lot of flash options for Fujifilm cameras… but if I should recommend one and only one, I’d say Godox, because it’s just terrific value for the money.

However, lately also Broncolor, Profoto & more added Fujifilm support too, and no doubt that they offer really high quality products. So if you are in those flash-ecosystems already, you can stay there with joy, since you got the support you needed. Unless you invested in Elinchrom… that one is lagging behind, but should come this year, too.

BIG THANKS to the FR-reader, who informed me about it :)

FUJIFILM at Imaging USA 2018. Expect to See Updated XF 8-16mmF2.8, XF 200mmF2 and GF250mmF4 Mock-Ups – UPDATE

Fujifilm at Imaging USA 2018

UPDATE: Sadly there are not upcoming lenses displayed at the imaging USA.

In the last few years, Fujifilm skipped the CES fair in Las Vegas.

They will, however, have a public booth (Nr. 717) at the Imaging USA 2018, which will be open to the public between January 14 and 16 in Nashville, TN.

That’s a bit too early to see the Fujifilm X-H1 (which will be announced February 15 Tokyo time), but there is a lot of great stuff to see, starting from the Fujifilm GFX 50S to the Fujifilm X-E3 as well as some brand new lenses like the XF80mm F2.8 WR.

I do expect that they will also display some updated mock-ups (or even early working prototypes) of the upcoming XF8-16mm, XF200mmF2 and GF250mm.

We could see some mock-ups of these lenses already in the past. I share them for you again here:

If there is any FujiRumors reader attending the event, please feel free to share what you see and heard with us via fujirumor@gmail.com.

It would be a very welcome help.

Fujifilm has just issued an official press release sharing their schedule for the Imaging USA 2018, which includes not only the latest and greatest Fujifilm gear, but also free head shot studio sessions, speeches and more.

These Guys Switched from CaNikon to Fujifilm: “Why Don’t More People Go to Fujifilm?” + “I Feel More Creative with Fujifilm”

Weekend Fujifilm Switch Tales

Yes, I know, a Nikon Manager said that “Professional Photographers don’t use Fujifilm”. And yet, for some reason, I keep up reading stories and seeing youtube videos about photographers switching to Fujifilm.

And speaking of switching… something against a few nice switch weekend stories? Nope? Then here are a few of them :)

And don’t forget to follow FujiRrumors on Facebook, RSS-feed, and Twitter… because the Fujifilm X-H1 is coming, and we are going to have lots of rumors and interesting news to share. Don’t miss them, and join us ;) .

From Canon to Fujifilm

As we reported in this roundup already, Mark Duffy borrowed a Fujifilm X-T2 from a friend and compared it to his Full Frame Canon 6D… and we already saw him quite surprised about the quality of the Fujifilm X-T2.

So his struggle began… should he do it? Should he really switch to Fujifilm?

Well, we got the answer in his recent video here, and yes, he sold all his Canon gear and is now shooting Fujifilm.

But before I highlight a few points he made, a special note goes to Mark’s unboxing video, which is by very far the best I have ever seen. Watch (and enjoy) it here at minute 0:39.

Some things he really likes about Fujifilm:

  • focus peaking for his landscape photography
  • the controls and functionality of camera/lenses
  • overal user experience
  • great menu and user interface
  • Canon looks like a dinosaur compared to the Fujifilm with highlight blinkies, focus peaking and Kaizen firmware update
  • the kit lens (XF18-55) is fantastic
  • Fujifilm cameras are underrated. Why don’t more people talk about? There is too much talk about Sony.

From Nikon to Fujifilm

Another guy, who is super happy to have switched from DSLR (Nikon) to Fujifilm is Gemini Connect.

He highlights also one aspect, which are the Fujifilm controls and the overall compactness, which makes him feel much more free than with his Nikon, and helps to boost his creativity.

At the end, my friends, somewhere inside we always remain kids. And it’s a well known fact that “fun” and “play” is the best way to trigger kids’ (and our) creativity.

And luckily, Fujifilm cameras are a whole lot of fun :)

  • his first Fujifilm was an X100S, and his Nikon DSLR’s started getting dust
  • compact size, doesn’t kill your shoulder, you feel free, especially with X100 series
  • brilliant JPEG’s thanks to Fujifilm film simulations… they basically photoshop images for you. Difficult to match the quality of film simulations by your own
  • shoots in low light very well
  • Given Fuji’s quality, I don’t see a reason for full frame
  • controls
  • I feel more free and creative with Fujifilm cameras
  • he will purchase the Fujifilm X-H1

You can check out his video here.
