Video Quality Comparison

Max Yuryev compared the 4K, 1080p and slow motion video quality between the Fujifilm X-T3, Sony A7III, Canon EOS R, Nikon Z7 and Blackmagic Pocket 4K. Check out the video above.

The results:

4K Video:

  • Sony is the winner
  • Fujifilm is close second after Sony, and unlike Nikon, no oversharpening and no aliasing issues
  • Nikon adds lots of oversharpening
  • Canon is really soft

1080 P

  • Fujifilm is the winner
  • Blackmagic second
  • Sony is third
  • Nikon way oversharpens, looks not good
  • Canon looks really soft

Slow Motion

  • Fujifilm X-T3 has a 1.3x crop. Autofocus works quite well. No audio. Definitely sharper image than the Sony A7III
  • Sony A7III shoots full frame at 1080p 120 fps. It doesn’t slow down the file in camera, so you can choose if you want to use the 120 fps at normal speed or slowed down. Full audio and autofocus capability
  • Blackmagic uses only 1/4 of the sensor in slow motion. Has audio
  • Nikon shoots 1080p slow motions, but only in APS-C crop. Slow motion with Audio and autofocus. Image oversharpens and aliasing
  • Canon has only 720p resolution at 120 fps slow motion, and no dual pixel AF, no audio. File looks soft
