Fujifilm Instax Square SQ10 Review

A couple of months ago, Fujifilm launched its first square instax camera, the Fujifilm Instax SQ10, a hybrid instax/digital camera. So is it as fun to use like all other “traditional” Fujifilm Instant cameras?

DPReview tested it… and didn’t really like it. The image quality is not good in low light. This, and some other Cons, make it “less fun than it should be” according to DPReview.

The good thing: they think the square format is “lovely”, and thanks to the fact that you can review the images before printing, you safe a lot of money on the expensive Instant sheets.

They end up recommending to take your pictures with a smartphone and use the Instax SP-2 printer to print your images (but it’s not square format).

I’d really have loved Fuji to implement WiFi to the Instax SQ10, so that I could connect my camera/smartphone to it and print some nice square images.

Instax SQ10 Review + Ultimate Instax 2017 comparison

There is another Instax Square SQ10 review by Lauren on youtube. She says:

  • the magic “take the photo and see what you got” is gone, since you can review the images on the screen before printing, but on the other hand you safe on expensive Instax film. And if you still want the classic instax experience, you can set it that it immediatly prints when you snap the image.
  • No viewfinder (only LCD screen) to compose the shots
  • some usability issues (like you always have to press the shutter again after you took an image, to make the preview of the previous image disappear from the LCD)
  • you can get really close to subject for Macros
