Fuji X-E2: [shopcountry 17992]
– NOISE: Yes, it’s again, Full Frame vs APS-C, or [shoplink 19559]Sony A7[/shoplink] vs [shoplink 17992]X-E2[/shoplink]. It may be unfair, but many reviewes are tempted to compare the performance of the 2 hot cameras of the moment. So, how does both cameras handle RAW-noise at the various ISO settings? Jordans says:
“First, the Fuji ISO ratings are somewhat overstated. In examining some test images, it appears that at the same shutter speed and aperture setting, the listed ISOs are roughly 1/3 stop apart. So, to set a fair fight here, I shot the A7 with a 1/3 stop lower ISO than the Fuji and set the shutter speed and aperture of each camera to be identical.
One area where Fuji’s X-Trans sensor does excel is in color noise suppression. […], the Fuji does a little better job at controlling color noise.
there is no real difference in noise performance between the two cameras for most any setting. […] The fact that the Fuji X-E2 can hold its own in the noise department with a brand new, very high-end full frame sensor is frankly remarkable. – Spectacular dynamic range (“the most amazing aspect of the Fuji X-E2“), quick and responsive, very good color accuracy, the automatic white-balance handles natural and artificial lighting “surprisingly well“… all this (and more) makes the X-E2 an excellent camera. But at ISO 800+ images (JPEG) are soft from the overly aggressive noise-reduction (so shoot RAW or change your NR settings). But read more at neocamera here.
