Fujifilm spoiled us X-shooters with a wide selection of great Fujinon glass (currently on sale in USA here). So we don’t really have much need to look elsewhere (except for longer glass at the moment… but this will change in 2016).

There is one Non-Fujinon lens though, that seems to have found its way in many X-shooter bags (including mine), even though it’s manual focus only and the focal length is already covered by the Fuji 14mm & the Zeiss 12mm: it’s the Samyang 12mmF2… and there is a good reason: it’s great value for money.

I own one, and I’m very happy with it (also thanks to some precious tips from the fellow FXF members, who told me how to get the best results out of it)! I really used it a lot during my recent 3 weeks journey through Indonesia .

And looking at how popular the Samyang 12mmF2 thread is at our Forum (18,200 views and 85 posts in just 3 months), I’d say that I’m not the only X-shooter to own and like this lens… actually I dare to say that this is probably the most successful Non Fujinon X-mount lens!

I use it, I like it, I recommend it…. but see plenty of images taken with this lens and then decide for yourself if the Samyang 12mm is a good deal for you.
