Full X-E1 specs!
Photorumors found the full X-E1 specifications:
- Same 16MP sensor as in the X-Pro1 (with max ISO of 25,600)
- 6 fps
- Light magnesium body
- Improved AF speed
- Price: bellow $1000
- To be released before Christmas
- Same video recording capabilities as the X-Pro1
- Mic input
- EVF only (not hybrid as the X-Pro1)
- Two colors: black and silver
- Pull 25 ISO to simulate Velvia in JPEG mode
Price below $1000 sounds particularly good

9 months ago |Price and specs in general sound really, really good … could be the one for me ! But I don’t like “To be released before Christmas” – that means up to 14 weeks waiting

9 months ago |Is that means fuji charged 700$ for Hybrid viewfinder ?! Specs sound really nice especially the improved AF performance

9 months ago |Hi Admin,
is there any chance to get some more info on the EVF? Is it any better than the X1′s or X100′s? Compared to the Sony EVF they don’t really stand out to put it mildly and Sony is supposed to work on a new one…
Also, is there a chance the sensor is actually a normal sensor instead of the not really RAW-converter friendly Fuji Exmor type?
Thanks!
António

9 months ago |The Fuji sensor is definetely an innovation, I won’t argue with that!
However as any solution it has pluses and minuses. As of right now, the lack of GOOD raw support from third party software is a big minus for me…
I just thought Fuji would differentiate it further from the Pro by swapping the sensor for say the Sony 16 mpix. They used the predecessor in the X100 so it wouldn’t be that unlikely!
I would gladly buy the Fuji alone for the manual controls as it reminds me of my old Panna LC1 which I loved. And for the planned 23/1.4 which sounds great! I’m just worried for the color banding and some other IQ quirks and I’m not willing to abandon LR4 already.
Then again, Fuji’s jpegs look great… Well it looks like wait & see after all

9 months ago |To mike admin said it was the same sensor as the xpro 1
That velvia function sounds fun they will probably bring it to the xpro 1 in the next firmware update.

9 months ago |Same sensor okay but does it have the X-trans or is it bayer
Scott
9 months ago |After they make some X pro 1 the line has payed for its self somewhat = Next one down the line is a bit cheeper to make. Why would they make it bayer? XPro1 was over priced but it was ALL new and can see the price coming down a bit now.

9 months ago |Raw performance of XPro1 files in LR is really garbage, I am sorry just can’t use Raw files at all.. Have to shoot bracketing which i hate really.. Would get this XE1 to replace my X100 but only if it is Bayer.
Hence the question: Has anybody heard if this is X100 Bayer or XP1 X-Trans on the 16MP sensor?

9 months ago |Improved AF is too vague after the comments they released earlier. I want to know more. Could be pretty exciting. Will the improved AF be software based and able to be applied to the X Pro 1 via firmware?

9 months ago |I don’t Have one so can’t say A thing about RAWs, I have a mac wonder if IPhoto will do a good job with RAWs from Fuji??? Has some tried IPhoto.

9 months ago |I hope they get a good manual focus assistance to work with manual lenses other than just the magnification of the central area of the screen.

9 months ago |Exactly. The current OFV/hybrid would be perfect if it allowed overlay of just the magnified portion in a small square, or emulated a rangefinder in software. The current OVF and magnification that covers the entire viewfinder is completely a waste of time.
Without the OVF, something has to be done, but right now, unless you use only Fuji X lenses, there is almost no reason to use any other lens.

9 months ago |I was thinking wouldn’t it be better to have OVF + the digital overlay thing.. scrap the EVF and just use the back screen for long zooms.

9 months ago |I’m glad to see this camera with no OVF and a built-flash. I hardly ever use the EVF since I love the rangefinder ‘feel’ of the OVF, and the flash is of absolutely no interest to me whatsoever. I hope Fuji is successful with it, but I don’t need it at all.
One More Thought
9 months ago |This almost sounds too good to be true. The sensor in the X Pro 1 is amazing; it produces incredible images.
If the AF is competitive for cameras in this class…then this will be a real winner for Fuji.
