I'm a M8 shooter and I tried the X-PRO 1 with the 35mm/1.4 as I had the opportunity. I'm not convinced by the OVF. Certainly you see when something is arriving in your space but on the other side, on day light, the frame disappears. I do not understand why it's not more marked on daylight than on night. On the other hand the EVF is very bright in the night and tend to blind you.
Other point of unsatisfaction is the non adjustable higher speed in auto iso. That's anoying.
Last point, the focus peaking is missing. I do not think this is a technical problem, but just a commercial problem like the 23mm who's not available at the moment. I think that Fujifilm prefers to sell fujinon lens and not to kill the x-100 market with him.

He is a Fuji employer actually haha. And yes usually pretty average but this post is better. His previous post was a joke.

Surely he is using a polarizer for the skies??

Your comment is really weird. The author of this blog has never hid his affiliation with the group FujiFilm. It has just the opportunity to make us enjoy the first photos taken with the 18-55mm and it is very good. Just a few photos ... Stop the bashing! If you take into account only the curves MTF, or wait for reviews "Pro" (who already? Ken Rockwell, for example ... Come on...!), you do not understand the photography.

From my experience of almost 20 years as Professor of Technology of Photography in renowned Photo Schools in Europe, so a camera is the best, and sometimes even after the MTF curve and the rest, is when it makes you bend, when it pushes you out of your home regardless of the weather outside, and it stimulates your creativity.

So me, instead, I get rich from amateurs blogs by what they do with their gear, their photo style and how they live their gear ergonomics, how they pass through optical defects, etc.. .. That's what makes the richness of photography, certainly not the MTF curves and claims from so call "Pro" who finally hopes for one thing: a high number of clicks to Amazon and Adorama.

Moreover, the proof: Consider a variety of images, made with FF, APS-C, M43 mixed under conditions of different shots. Try to do a "reverse engineering" to know that they are the materials used, the focal length used, etc ... well you will see that almost 95% of photographers are unable to align or correlate a serie Format/Camera/Lens. So ... some objectivity!

Not the first time his blog post/review is useless. It rather looks like a intentional marketing leak from Fuji. We all know this camera can take photos, what we neednow is a real review doneby someone who knowsnmore than just pressing the shutter. Please stop promoting his personal website and wait for some pro reviews.

That's good to hear. The hybrid VF is really more desirable but much more expensive. And some people don't seem to appreciate/want it. A comment by a Fuji Rep at Photokina 2012 could be interpreted as "no more hybrid VF". Nothing definite, so time will tell. I hope Fuji literally sells them by the ton.
