Fuji announces the F900EXR and FinePix S4800 cameras.
Fuji just announced two new compact cameras. The FinePix S4800 superzoom with 30x zoom lens (Press text at Dpreview) and the WiFi-enabled F900EXR with EXR-CMOS II (Press text at DPreview).
Not really a big news and honestly also other companies didn’t announce exciting cameras for the coming CP+ show in Japan (starting tomorrow). Rumors say that major company announcements will come in April only but I don’t think Fuji will announce a new X camera by than (Sony-Panasonic-Olympus-Samsung will). Although, I would be happy to see a new X-PRO2 with new EVF, faster AF and why not, a new generation X Trans sensor….I know I have to stop dreaming

4 months ago |I guess Fuji is in no rush to introduce a replacement for the x-pro 1, which I think is a big mistake. If they introduced one with the new features in the x100s, it would surely be very popular. Now, I will have to reconsider what my next camera is going to be, as I am getting tired of waiting…

4 months ago |Yeah, but if they introduce one now, I’ll be pretty mad, since I’ve just paid 1000+USD for mine two months ago – there have to be at least two years before an updated version is announced, I’d say.

4 months ago |IMHO X pro 1S/2 will be presented at photkina or later… whitin a year. In the meanwhile new lenses and fw. Fuji can’t upgrade its Top Pros-Like camera only with a couple of fearures taken from the little sister….and can’t upgrade top camera bodys every year. Now x100s seems to be at the same level of x-pro and x-e. Split imm is avaible only in evf and need to be improved….fast focusing will be fantastic BUT is not a sporty camera and fuji declare for the x100s 0,08 sec while x pro and Co. 0,1sec! Uhmmmn so…… We have to wait hoping new “ultra features”!
X pro1 remains indeed a fantastic camera even with x100s!

4 months ago |Since 8 January, it is unwise to buy an X-E1 or X-Pro1, given the innovations in the X100s.

4 months ago |I agree…now they need to introduce those improvements in a new interchangeable lens x-series camera. I won’t buy one until they do, but won’t wait a year either.

4 months ago |A firmware-update can be an interim solution. With faster AF, better AF in low light, focus peaking MF aid, AF point selection moved to Macro button and a lower price.

4 months ago |The design department of the X-Series does not seem to be involved in the design of the comapct camera buisness
Does anyone even still sell compact cameras?

4 months ago |If the upcoming firmware update results in a significant improvement in the AF, I may consider it. However, they probably could and should just update the X-E1 and x-pro 1 with the new sensor and features. Otherwise, sales will drop significantly, as the biggest issue with those cameras is AF, and it is evident that those issues may be resolved or significantly improved with the next-generation. That said, a single focal length is too limited for my needs, despite the beauty of the x100s.
