I suspect Fuji wants to continue sales of the X-Pro1 until its successor is shipping. I’m also confident that Fuji is still making a significant profit on each camera (remember you still need to buy at least one lens to operate it as no legacy lenses exist). Each sale is a minimum of $2000 even with the deal.

One thing that does seem apparent to me is that Fuji keeps a tight control over the price at which its vendors can advertise and/or sell their product, so I don’t think this is a unilateral move on Amazon’s part to dump cameras.

It’s a great camera, well worth $1400. If you always wait for the next great thing, you will never actually own a camera.
